MGAM
MGAM maltase-glucoamylase — the molecular target that 1 compounds in the wiki act on.
In one line: A gut enzyme that digests carbs — slowing it blunts blood-sugar spikes.
MGAM is an intestinal enzyme that breaks starches down into sugar for absorption. The drug acarbose partially blocks it, so carbs are digested more slowly and blood sugar rises in a gentle trickle instead of a spike — a bit like a mild low-carb effect in a pill. It's also one of the more reproducible life-extenders in animal studies.
The trade-off: undigested carbs travel further down the gut and ferment, which causes gas and bloating.
