Turkesterone / Ecdysterone

Evidence: ★★☆☆☆ · Status: OTC Supplement

💡 Did you know? Turkesterone is literally an insect moulting hormone — heavily marketed for muscle, but the human evidence is thin.

In plain English

Heavily hyped "natural anabolics." Ecdysterone has one suggestive human study (and WADA considered banning it); turkesterone is mostly marketing. Doesn't work through testosterone.

How it works

Insect/plant "ecdysteroids" proposed to act via the estrogen receptor beta (ESR2) (not the androgen receptor) to stimulate protein synthesis — non-hormonal in humans. One German ecdysterone RCT showed muscle gain; turkesterone has essentially no human data.

Molecular target & official sources

ESR2 estrogen receptor beta (NCBI Gene) · Ecdysterone (PubChem CID 5459840)

Bottom line

Ecdysterone is the one with a shred of evidence; temper expectations.

Helps with: Build Muscle & Strength · Hormones & Testosterone

Stacks with

Shares a pathway — often paired with: Omega-3 (EPA/DHA), Vitamin D3 (+ K2), Testosterone (TRT), Finasteride / Dutasteride.

Availability & where to buy

Available over the counter. Widely available OTC — e.g. iHerb (ships worldwide); in Singapore also Guardian, Watsons, GNC, Shopee / Lazada. Look for a third-party-tested / GMP mark and check the dose per serving.
