MAOA

MAOA — the molecular target that 1 compounds in the wiki act on.

In one line: The enzyme that clears mood chemicals — blocking it raises them (and demands caution).

MAOA (monoamine oxidase A) breaks down serotonin, dopamine, and noradrenaline — your mood and drive chemicals. Blocking it raises all three. Methylene blue and a few compounds do this mildly.

The serious catch: because blocking this enzyme raises serotonin, combining an MAO-blocker with other serotonin-raising things (SSRIs, 5-HTP) can cause dangerous serotonin overload. So compounds that block it must be handled carefully around other mood drugs.
